Lift Operator

Seasonal – Position Starts December 8th, 2017


Provide Granby Ranch valued guests with a safe and efficient experience on and off the chairlifts.


  • Assist every skier/rider loading and unloading on the lift.
  • Give loading and unloading instructions upon request.
  • Scan every ticket while in the position of ticket checker.
  • Maintain good snow conditions at loading and unloading areas (corrals and ramps) using shovels, rakes and other tools provided.
  • Follow all safety rules explicitly.
  • Notify ski patrol of any accident that is seen by you or reported to you during your shift.
  • Keep the Lead Operator informed of all situations at your lift.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment at your work station at all times.
  • Arrive to work in the morning and after lunch break on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Assist the Lead Operator to perform all necessary checks in the morning, ensuring all safety circuits and switches are functioning properly.
  • Ensure familiarity with the ski area terrain and features, and be able to give description of the Granby Ranch ski runs when asked by guests.
  • Maintain a safe and clean resort area by picking up refuse and other items in and around the resort.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Ability to interact in a friendly and courteous manner with all guests.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with all guests and fellow employees.
  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to adhere to and follow all company policies and safety requirements.

Education or Formal Training:

  • High School or equivalent desired.


  • Experience in lift operations a plus.

Working Environment:

  • Outdoor work in a harsh winter mountain environment with variable weather conditions.

Physical Activities:

  • Must be able to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, ice chippers, hand picks, and steel spud bar up to 15 pounds in weight.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
